Privacy Policy

Overview

UNAWAIN ("the App") is developed and maintained by Ralph Mattew Palomaria ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles your information.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Specifically:

• We do not collect personal information
• We do not collect usage analytics
• We do not collect crash reports
• We do not collect device identifiers
• We do not use cookies or tracking technologies
• We do not have user accounts or registration
• We do not require an email address

On-Device Processing

All features of UNAWAIN operate entirely on your device:

• Document scanning uses Apple's Vision framework (on-device OCR)
• Audio transcription uses Apple's Speech framework (on-device speech recognition)
• AI summarization uses locally downloaded open-source models (Gemma 4 E2B/E4B or Qwen 2.5 1.5B) running via llama.cpp
• Translation uses a locally stored NLLB-200 model (CoreML) for dialect translation
• Document analysis uses Apple's NaturalLanguage framework for keyword extraction, sentiment analysis, and entity recognition

No text, audio, images, or analysis results are ever transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.

Data Storage

All data generated by the App is stored locally on your device:

• Analysis results are stored in the app's local SwiftData database
• Source files (photos, audio recordings) are stored in the app's local Documents directory
• AI models are downloaded once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and stored locally
• User preferences (language, font size, haptics) are stored in local UserDefaults

You can delete all stored data at any time from Settings. You can also set automatic data retention policies (30 days, 90 days, or keep forever). Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data.

Network Usage

The App makes network requests only for:

1. One-time AI model download — When you first set up the App, it downloads AI model files from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). This is the only network request the App makes. After download, no further network access is required.

The App does not communicate with any other servers, APIs, or services.

Camera and Microphone

• Camera: Used solely for capturing document images for OCR text extraction. Photos are processed on-device and stored locally. They are never uploaded or transmitted.
• Microphone: Used solely for recording audio for on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed locally and stored on your device. It is never uploaded or transmitted.

You can revoke camera and microphone permissions at any time in your device's Settings app.

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App does not contain ads.

The only third-party interaction is the initial download of open-source AI models from Hugging Face, which is subject to Hugging Face's privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

The App does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages.

Data Security

Since no data leaves your device, there is no risk of server-side data breaches. Your documents, audio recordings, and analysis results are protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, delete, or port. All your data is already in your control on your device.
